Wedding Of Sofia Coppola And Thomas Mars: Highlights
samedi 27 août 2011
As we await news and photos of the marriage ceremony of American filmmaker Sofia Coppola and French singer Thomas Mars, including our first glimpse of Sofia's wedding gown, here are the highlights we have glimpsed to date to help pass the time....
- The intimate civil ceremony uniting Sofia Coppola and Thomas Mars took place at the Coppola family
Leonardo Chiruzzi, Mayor of Bernalda, Italy resort, Palazzo Margherita, was officiated by mayor of Bernalda, Leonardo Chiruzzi, who commented: "If they wanted to do a Hollywood wedding, they wouldn't have done it here... (They) chose to do it here because it's here — it's here that is beautiful." - The cake was created by the chef at Magna Grecia, a hotel in Bernalda. With typical understated elegance, Sofia and Thomas chose a simple cake, vanilla with chantilly cream decorated in white flowers. The manager, Biagio Loiudice, shared: "They came in last week and chose the cake... It's not high, very simple. They preferred simplicity."
- Al Vecchio Frantoio catered the wedding, along with the women that run the nearby resort Masseria Cardillo offering an array of traditional dishes of the region: grilled meats including fish, roast pork, ham and figs, pasta with tomato and basil, salads, courgettes, fresh cheeses, and other local favorites such as gnumeridd, capuzzella, and lampascioni, a rare onion.
- Guests enjoyed wines made locally on the Coppola family farm throughout dinner.
